Thank you for your interest in our 10 week Beginners Hockey program. I hope the following information answers all your questions, and that you will be joining us on either Friday 2nd of May or Friday 25th of  July (for our second 10 week program in Term 3).

The program is for;

All children wishing to have a go at hockey. We will have two groups running, one for under 9's (ie children turning 7,8,and 9 in 2008) and one for under 12's (ie children turning 10, 11 and 12 in 2008).

Program length;

There are two programs, both run for ten weeks. The first in Term two (2 May – 4 July), the second in Term three (25 July – 26 September) on a Friday afternoon from 4pm to 5pm.

You can register in either program or for both.

Program content;

We will concentrate on skills for the first 3 weeks.  Children will then be placed in teams for the following 7 weeks when each session will consist of a warm-up, skills practise and game.

Group size;

We are looking at a maximum of 4 groups of 8 children in under 9’s, and 4 groups of 7 children in under 12’s.

Supervision;

We would like to have 2 leaders / group so that the children have the best opportunity to learn  the basic skills of hockey.  Some of our u15's and u13's will be helping.  We're looking for a total of 8 adult helpers.  If YOU can help please tell us.  All activities will be organised in advance so that you will know what you are doing each week.

Equipment;

Each child must  wear their own sneakers, shin pads (the club has a limited number of shin pads for purchase)  and mouth guard.  They will not be allowed to participate without them

No boots are allowed as this damages the field.

Bring a drink bottle each week.  It is unlikely that the canteen will be open.

All other equipment is provided. I
